Extruded cubes, anyone?

I was looking through my morning blogs, news, etc, and came across BIG's winning entry for a prefabricated housing complex in Kuovola, Finland.  I'm torn when I see designs like this; on one hand, I love the light, airy environment that they've created- it's a rendering, mind you- and if they can achieve this within the built work, then buy me a ticket to Finland! On the other hand, I look and see a pile of extruded cubes.  I have a love/hate relationship with designs like this.  With the right materiality they look modern and delicate and wonderful.  If they're too heavy, they look like Habitat 67 in Montreal, which many like but I feel looks a bit heavyhanded- like the cube people are taking over Canada.  Let's hope that BIG's project maintains its beauty!
